What we collect
- The contact form: your name, your email address, your organisation if you give it, the topic you choose and your message. They reach us by email so that we can reply.
- The launch notification: your email address, so that we can tell you when our editorial software is released.
- Audience measurement: we count visits with Umami, which sets no cookies, keeps no IP address and cannot identify you. We see only totals: pages viewed, the site you came from, the type of browser and device, the country.
- Security: Cloudflare, which hosts the site, handles technical data such as your IP address to deliver the pages and to stop abuse. Its Turnstile check, on the forms, tells people from automated programs.
Why, and on what grounds
We use your details only to answer your message or to send the notification you asked for. We never sell them, never use them for advertising and never add you to a mailing list you did not ask to join.
Replying to you rests on our legitimate interest in answering enquiries, or on steps you ask us to take before a possible contract. The launch notification rests on your consent, which you can withdraw at any time. Security measures rest on our legitimate interest in keeping the site safe.
Who else handles it
- Cloudflare hosts the site, runs the forms and forwards messages to our mailbox.
- Google (Gmail) holds the mailbox where we receive and answer messages.
- Umami provides the audience measurement.
These providers may process data outside the United Kingdom and the European Union. They do so with the safeguards the law requires, such as standard contractual clauses.
How long we keep it
Messages and the details that come with them are kept for up to twelve months after our last exchange, unless the conversation leads to working together. Notification addresses are deleted once the notification has been sent, or sooner if you ask. Audience figures contain no personal data.
Your rights
You can ask to see the data we hold about you, to correct it, to delete it, to limit or object to its use, or to receive a copy in a common format. Write to info@compendo.xyz: we reply within a month.
If you think we have mishandled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk) or to the data protection authority of your own country.
